When I find myself feeling low, I always look for something I know will pick me up. That’s why I’m reposting one of my 2012 inspirational podcasts with Shawn Anderson. I dare you to listen to this fourteen-minute podcast and not feel inspired; not think, ‘if they can carry on so can I’.
Not only is Shawn Anderson a best-selling author, motivational speaker and success coach, he is also the founder and CEO of the Extra Mile America Foundation, a nonprofit organization that encourages positive attitude and action by empowering individuals, organizations and cities to go the extra mile.
Shawn goes across America talking to every day heroes. People like you and me who, at some point, face tremendous struggle and find the courage to pick themselves back up and keep going.
Shawn’s extra mile story started when he biked 4,000 miles across the US in 2009 with the sole purpose of meeting and acknowledging extraordinary people. “We’re surrounded by heroes everywhere,” Shawn says, “but nobody knows them. Why not stand up and clap for the people who are really making a difference in the world.”
Through the creation of the Extra Mile America Foundation, Shawn gives all of us the chance to become extra mile advocates by nominating the most inspirational people in our communities for recognition. Find out more at the Extra Mile America Foundation website — but only after you’ve listened to this great pick-me up podcast!
